The proverbial saying ‘dynamite comes in small packages’ has never been more accurate – especially not when the dynamite in question is a dazzling, petite blonde by the name of Pixie Bennett.

Probably best known as the spunky top 10 finalist in season VI of Idols South Africa, Pixie has captured the hearts of the nation with her amazing voice and addictive persona.
This Canadian born beauty attended boarding school in Howick in the KZN midlands after which she studied Musical Theatre at the University of Cape Town. It was also at varsity that she was given the nickname Pixie due to her small frame and appealing demeanour. Realising after a year that singing was her passion Pixie travelled to the UK, Italy, Turkey and Ibiza and finally settled in Durban where she started and became the lead singer of the highly acclaimed The Pixie Bennett Band.
Justine Bishop recently had the opportunity to delve into the mind of this fiery personality:
JB: What are your New Year’s resolutions for 2010?
PB: To print and make photo albums for all the places I visited. I made this resolution last year too , and no albums done in 2009 haha!
JB: If you were told today that you could never perform again, what career path would you choose?
PB: Maybe an interior designer or special effects make-up artist.
JB: When was the last time you did a household chore and what was it?
PB: Today! Laundry!
JB: If you could be any superhero, who will it be?
PB: Any one of them that can teleport. Imagine how much money and time I would save on travel costs, and how the world would really be my oyster
JB: Lastly, we’re dying to know, what’s the most ‘Nearly Illicit’ thing that you have done thus far?
PB: I wore a very riske outfit to a New Year’s party once that could classify as illicit, a P- party so you can guess. I think people on the tube thought I may have had another job..

No matter where in the world her journey may take her, the shining star that is Pixie Bennett will never cease to wow all those that have the privilege to encounter her along the way.
We at Nearly Illicit Magazine wish her all the best for the future and know that 2010 will without a doubt be the year of the Pixie!
